Hi, it’s Han!
Lover of God, people, the ocean, a good cup of coffee and all the little joys in life.
Based in Geelong, Victoria with my husband Tyler. We live a rather simple life, following and loving Christ, surrounded by the fellowship of our friends and family.
I’ve always had a spark to write but started poetry a few years ago. I’d made a move up to the East Coast of Australia to a small beach town, Byron Bay. I entered into full-time Christian Missions and with that a green-house season. Great big weeds pulled out of my heart, soil turned, planted and watered.
I would sit on our front porch, with the company of many surfboards and a tall as-the-eye-can-see palm tree. It’s here I scribbled down words, which stumbled into poems. Teaching my heart that the Lord gives rhythm, rhyme and dance to life with Him. Poetry became my way of articulating in a small way all the Lord was doing inside of me.
For a while, the sentences strung together were specially kept for Him and I. Cumilated letters to the Lord, filling up journals placed on bookshelves. But, instead of letting them collect dust, I started to share. Since then I have felt the call to use words to express the beauty of the Lord and the invitation he extends to a mysterious but marvellous life of abiding.
I have continually fallen more in love with writing. Taking words and forming something that does its best to speak of His glory, something that sparks thought and thanksgiving, something that would bring worship to Him and wonder to ourselves.
I hope this space inspires you to do the same, as we are all innately creative. Whether it be the mainstream kind of way, paints and pallets, or more hidden, let your hands and heart craft and create with the creator, follow the spark, and let it shine bright.
With love, Han x
